THE HIDDEN KINGDOM OF BHUTAN

Bhutan, the land of Thunder Dragon—Druk Yul, is a small Buddhist Kingdom, hidden in the folds of the great Himalayas and nestled between two big nations, India and China. It is a thrilling land of towering peaks, pristine forests, and admiring landscape. Known for very rich flora and fauna and flourishing green valleys, people breathe clean, fresh and unpolluted air. More than 70 per cent of the total area is covered with forest and the Constitution, adopted in 2008 mandates the minimum of 60 per cent forest coverage in all times to come. 
Bhutan’s unique culture and traditions are originated from Buddhism which is prevailed religion. For the Bhutanese people, Buddhism is not just a religion, but a philosophical practice inherent and ingrained in their daily lives. The approach to development is based on the philosophy of Gross National Happiness—the development with values. This 9 days tour covers the western Bhutanese grandeur of Paro,Thimphu and glimpse of Bumthang, central Bhutan, the heart land Buddhism. Trip Itinerary:

DAY 01: BAGDODRA AIRPORT TO PHUNTSHOLING
Transfer to Phuntsholing, the broader town of Bhutan. You will drive through the Indian plains and drive takes about 4 hours. On arrival at Jaigoing, Indian broader town, you will obtain the exit permit from India Immigration office. Drive to Phuntsholing and check in your hotel. Your Bhutanese escort will assist to process your visa from the Bhutan Immigration office. Evening at leisure. Dinner and Overnight: Hotel 
DAY 2: PHUNTSHOLING – THIMPHU (175 KMS)
Morning depart from Phuntsholing towards the capital of Bhutan, Thimphu and drive takes about 6 -7 hours, passing through hills and some astounding countryside with lush green valleys and densely forested areas. After driving for 15 minutes from Phuntsholing ‘you will visit Kharbandi monastery, where you will see a stunning views of Indian Plains. You journey climbs steeply through the tropical vegetations till Gedu town, a recently established town due to Tala Hydropower project, offering one of the best sceneries of water falls and lush valleys. Your lunch will be served en-route. Afternoon, you will pass through Chukha Hydropower and its town. Drive pass through Chapcha village and descend to Chunzom the confluence of Thimphu and Paro River. Continue your journeys following the Thimphu River upwards passing through several villages. Thimphu is situated in a large valley traversed by the Wangchuk Rive and overshadowed by high peaks. On reaching Thimphu, you will be taken a hotel located in the heart of the Thimphu City, which offers easy access to go around the commercial establishments. Dinner & Overnight: Hotel 
DAY 3: THIMPHU VALLEY SIGHTSEEING
Morning you will visit followings places of cultural interest. This morning we will visit the Kuensel Phodrang, 169ft Buddha Statue, one of the religious monuments built in recent times and visit the National Memorial Chorten with its golden spines shining in the sun, its tinkling bells built in honour of third King of Bhutan, Jigme Dorji Wangchuck. The inside paintings and statues provide a very rare insights into Buddhist Philosophy in all its complexity of tantric Buddhism. This Chorten is centrally located and you will see some elderly people circling around it. Your lunch will be served at one of the popular restaurants to taste the Bhutanese cuisines. Afternoon we will drive to Sangjay Gang to have a “Birds Eye View” of Thimphu valley and drive to visit textiles Museum, which houses old Bhutanese Textiles and artifacts from the various regions and tribes of Bhutan. Thereafter, you will drive to visit Tashicho Dzong, the main secretariat which houses the summer residence of the central monk body and main seat of government. Its majestic architecture in finely balanced proportions is complemented by artistic decorations and paintings and return to your hotel. Dinner and Overnight: Hotel 
DAY 4: THIMPHU – PARO 
Drive towards north of Thimphu valley to Dodeyna, where you will see the stunning view of Cheri Monastery also called as the Chari Dorjeden monastery built in 1620 by Shabdrung. This monastery has been a major teaching and main retreat center for the monks. You will walk over the traditional bridge covered with the prayers and hike to Cheri Monastery. After visiting the monastery, descend to the base and picnic lunch along the river side. Drive to Thimphu and depart to Paro. Drive takes less than two hours. You drive the road till Chunzom( confluence of Thimphu and Paro River). You will drive following the Paro River and en-route you will view the Tang Tachogang monastery, “the temple of excellent horse” built by Thangthong Gyalpo (Iron chain builder in Bhutan). You will visit the Iron Chain Bridge which is one of the most visible ancient craft work in the middle Ages. You will continue our drive to Paro and on arrival you will drive through picturesque valley to your hotel. Evening at leisure. Dinner and Overnight: Hotel 
DAY 05 : PARO TAKSTANG DAY EXCURSION
This morning will be a very special day, with an excursion to visit the spectacular Taktsang (Tiger Nest), monastery. After breakfast you will take a short drive to the north of Paro Valley to Ramthankha, from where you start the hikes to the Taktsang monastery (Tiger’s Nest). The trail climbs through beautiful pine forest, many of tress festooned with Spanish moss and an occasional grove of fluttering prayer flags. Visitors are permitted to hike up to the viewpoint from where you can see the monastery hanging on a cliff. We will obtain a special permit to allow you to visit the monastery. Legend has it that Guru Rimpoche, founder of Buddhism flew from Eastern Bhutan on a tigress, bringing Buddhist teachings and meditated here in this cliff. This is one of the most venerated and sacred of all Buddhist sights around the world. After visiting the monastery, you will walk down to Taktsang cafeteria for lunch. Finally on time availability, we will visit Kyichu Lhakhang, one of Bhutan’s oldest and most sacred monasteries dating from the introduction of Buddhism in the 8th century. DAY 6: PARO – BUMTHANG ( BY AIR) 
ELEVATION: 2600M
You will drive to Paro Airport and take a half hour flight to Jakar, Bumthang, on clear you will be able to enjoy the impressive views of eastern Himalayas and spectacular land escape. The Bumthang region encompasses four valleys—the Choekhor (Jakar) Tang, Ura, and Chhumey. This valley has most of the important sacred monasteries and it is called the heart land of Buddhism in the country. The Guru Rimpoche and his lineage of tertons (treasure revealers) have made this valley more sacred and houses more than 40 temples. It is an ideal place for day hikes and offers amble opportunities visit farmhouse and meet with local people. On arrival, you will meet with our representative and drive to your hotel. You will settle down at the hotel and have some lunch. Afternoon, you will take a drive to visit following places of cultural interest. You will visit the Zangdopleri Lhakhang built by Grand Queen mother and Kurjey Lhakhang: legend has it that the body imprint of Guru Rimpoche was left behind while meditating in a cave in this temple. Drive back to your hotel. Early dinner and evening you will drive to attend the opening fire dance ceremony of Jambay lakhang Drup. Overnight: Hotel
DAY 07: BUMTHANG – JAKAR – TANG VALLEY
You will drive to Tang Valley, which is block of Bumthang Districts. We drive till Dechen Pelrithang and take a 27 kilometers feeder road passing through several villages. Along the route you will view Kunzan Drak monastery. You will drive further to Kizom and take an hour hike to visit the Ugyen Choling monastery and private museum. Brief historical account of Ugyen Choling begins with a visit of the great Tibetan master of Buddhism, Longchen Rabjam (1308 -63). He is the most celebrated writer and philosopher of Nyingmapa School of Tibetan Buddhism and is regarded as the synthesizer of the doctrine and methods of Dzongchen “school of great perfection The visit the Museum and walk down following the feeder road to Kizom where we will meet our transportation. You will have your lunch at one for farm house in Tang, which affords an authentic encounter with the Bhutanese traditional way of life. Afternoon, we will drive to Jakar, passing through several villages and en-route visit Remochen Monastery and Marbarstho (Flaming Lake, where the Terton Pema Lingpa has revealed the religious treasure from this lake. Drive back to your hotel. Dinner and Overnight: Hotel
DAY 8: BUMTHANG – PARO ( DOMESTIC FLIGHT)
After breakfast, you will drive to Bumthang Domestic Airport and take your onward flight to Paro. On arrival you drive through Paro Valley and visit some of the remaining highlights at Paro. Dinner and Overnight: Hotel 
DAY 9: PARO AIRPORT
Transfer to Paro Airport for your onward kathmandu
