Kangchenjunga Base Camp trek is a tough challenge. However, great things never come from comfort zones. This journey is a chance to trek where only few walk; you have the trails all to yourself. The trail leads us to the base of the third highest mountain on earth, at 8586m.
Kanchenjunga Base Camp Trekking goes through the eastern border of Nepal which is nearby the small Indian state of Sikkim. The name of this famous mountain comes from Tibetan language and means “Five Treasuries of the Great Snow.” It stands proud with many peaks, hence the name. Local legend has it that each of the five “treasures” contains hidden riches: gold, silver, gemstones, grains and Holy Scriptures. In other words, your trek will take you from around approximately 2300m at Suketar to an altitude of around 5140m. That is to say at Pangpema, the base camp for climbing expeditions to the north face of Kanchenjunga. Our Kanchenjunga Base Camp Trekking difficulty requires you be well fit to enjoy this trek for what it truly is. Importantly, this being said, the trek itself will provide you with a remarkable, unforgettable walking experience in the Himalaya wilderness.
Kanchenjunga Base Camp Trekking is beautiful but however, a challenging journey, too. Additionally, the base camp is one of the least tourist hiking routes in Nepal. Our Kanchenjunga Base Camp Trekking itinerary is well thought out to get you off the standard “beaten track”. Therefore, you must be ready for very basic teahouse stays, and simple but organic local food. With having made your choice, you will soon learn why this great trek is for you. While trekking the trails through splendid mountain wilderness, you may even get the opportunity of spotting a rare snow leopard. Certainly, you will experience and enjoy watching a beautiful animal on this journey. For this trek, you will need at least 3 plus weeks to complete this trip comfortably, at your pace. This includes a few rest days to make up for sudden bad weather or if you’re feeling out of sorts.
Your journey will begin with a flight of a little over an hour from Kathmandu to Suketar-Taplejung. The twin otter plane will land on a remote airstrip in the north east of Nepal. During the course of your trek, you will climb from dense forests to lower slopes in mild weather. The trails will take you past raging rivers and beautiful rhododendron forests. Finally, you will reach up to the higher alpine regions above the tree lines. Rishi Nepal – owner of Encountersnepal.com & his team will escort you on this unforgettable trip of a lifetime.
