Everest Base Camp Trek – 16 Days
The Everest Base Camp trek is something similar to when everything you feel is like an uphill struggle. However, the rewards are superb, just think of the views from the top…
The enchantment of Everest lures trekkers from all over the world to trek along the best-known trail in the Himalayas. Moreover, this epic Everest Base Camp Trek is a once in a lifetime break. You stand in the shadows of the highest mountain on earth. We have done this route for many years, and we never tire of enjoying it. Everest Base Camp trek accommodation is cosy and goes through the heart of the Khumbu with a gradual ascent. We allow you to fully acclimatize to the altitude while trekking to Everest Base Camp. Our Everest Base Camp Trek takes us to the home of the well known Sherpas; their faith in Buddhism and the gateway of the Khumbu: Namche Bazaar. Moreover, we also hike through the Sagarmatha National Park, the thrilling viewpoint of Kalapathar and the Everest Base Camp itself.
Leaving Kathmandu, and our delightful 3 star hotel behind, we take the amazing flight to Lukla. Next is a meeting with our experienced trekking crew. Our trail gradually leads us up from the gleaming waters of the Dudh Khosi River, through peaceful Sherpa country. We hike on passing by dramatic high mountain scenery and beyond. Our Everest Base Camp trek route steers of the main trail and we visit friendly villages, including Namche Bazaar. Finally, now well acclimatised, we follow in the footsteps of the great mountaineers and trek to Base Camp. This is an important highlight of the trip. If its in April, we may see Everest expeditions preparing for their ascent during the spring climbing season. The following day we trek to the top of Kalapathar, 5,545m/18,192ft, for superb views of Everest at 8848.86m. The stunning views also include Lhotse, Nuptse and Makalu. This moment is simply unforgettable!!
If you are travelling on our October 2021 departures you can experience a famous festival. This is the colorful Mani Rimdu Festival you will love to watch at Thyangboche Monastery. Most of our treks to Everest Base Camp offer the free use of down jackets and sleeping bags. Additionally, you also get some great teahouse services which include guide leaders who are born in this thrilling region. Our treks provide great acclimatisation and our success rates hereabouts are high. We provide you healthy and hygienic meals on all our treks.

Useful Information

When bunking out in tea houses or tented camps at Mt Everest Base camp in May: Some real useful advice from Encounters Nepal.com: A: It’s important to note that your flight from Kathmandu to Lukla may get delayed for a few hours or may even be cancelled for some days due to unfavorable weather conditions. Since these situations are unpredictable for what extreme climate changes are occurring these days; you must be prepared to haul up in Kathmandu for some time. Encounters Nepal will put in its best efforts to get you through for you at the earliest time possible. Still, we suggest you be well-prepared for such delays or even cancellations. If the delay exceeds 2 days, you have the option to do an alternative trip as well. We can organize the Annapurna Base Camp Trek at the same price you've paid for Everest Base Camp. But it’s important to note that no refunds will be made as we cannot be responsible for an act that has occurred by the gods of nature. You will also have to bear the cost for accommodation, transportation, and food for the extra days in Kathmandu. B: EncountersNepal, a highly sensitive and responsible travel operator, ensures that all of its trips are eco-friendly. We have found that one of the reasons why trekkers fell sick during one of our trips is due to drinking water. But we make our best efforts to assure that you are always provided with pure water. We do this by providing you chlorinated water. But if you don't like drinking chlorinated water and bring mineral water instead, you can get it on the mountains. Mineral water bottles for a 14-days trip will cost you approx. $150. So, don't forget to bring necessary cash for buying mineral water. C: Want to enjoy high-speed Internet Connectivity while trekking in the rugged laps of Mount Everest? It would be a great experience sharing your trip updates with the loved ones at home and friends staying far away from you. If you want, it's possible to use WiFi services till Gorakshep. However, this will cost you approximately USD 5 per day depending on how much we need it at any given time you’d want to use it. D: Please don't forget to carry your Traveler's Insurance with you as it covers your emergency evacuation. We can make the helicopter arrangements for you in case of an emergency. Of course, nothing much will happen, but being prepared is like a stitch in time will save nine; please inform your insurance company before you leave your home country prior to your trip. This is mandatory given the environmentally dangerous times we live in.
