The hair-raising flight from Kathmandu will take you to the mountain airstrip at Lukla where the trek begins. A full day is spent in Namche Bazaar to acclimatize before heading off to the north towards the Gokyo Lakes. A scramble ascent nearby Gokyo Ri (5483m.) gives closer view of the world 6th highest peak, Mt. Cho Oyu (8201m.). A high altitude trekking option is available here, crossing Chola (Chhugyuma) at 5420m, a high pass into Khumbu region.From Lobuche, an ascent will take you to the Rocky outcrop of Kalapaththar (5545m.) to look down on the base camp of the world's highest peak. You will pass through many Sherpa villages and fabulous mountain scenery during the whole trek.
