Dolpo region has been permitted for trekkers since mid-1989 and located inside the Shey-Phoksundo National Park of mid-western Nepal. The region offers opportunities to visit ancient villages, high passes, beautiful Lakes, isolated Buddhist monasteries and also to experience the vast array of wildlife inhabiting the region, including Blue sheep, Mountain Goat, Jackal, Wolf and the legendary Snow Leopard. Trekkers relatively rarely visit the remote and wild district of Dolpa and yet it offers a wonderful chance to experience the landscape and culture far different from that seen in other parts of the country. This remote and rugged protected area is both scenically and culturally attractive. The trek passes through Shey-Phoksundo National Park for which an entry permit must be achieved in addition to the trekking permit. The lake is quite large being around five kilometers long and one kilometer wide where glaciers enter directly into the lake feed crystal clear waters. Itinerary List
